AAP announces names of 11 candidates in the first list for Delhi elections to be held by February

New Delhi: In an early announcement, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced 11 candidates for the Delhi Assembly elections to be held early next year. Brahm Singh Tanwar will contest from Chhatarpur while Anil Jha will be the AAP candidate from Kirari. Deepak Singhla will contest from Vishwas Nagar and Sarita Singh will contest from Rohtas Nagar. Bibi Tyagi has been made the AAP candidate from Laxmi Nagar and Ram Singh Netaji from Badarpur.

Zubair Chaudhary will be AAP’s candidate from Seelampur and Veer Singh Dhingan will contest from Seemapuri. Gaurav Sharma will contest from Ghonda and Manoj Tyagi has been made the candidate from Karawal Nagar. Somesh Shaukeen will be AAP’s candidate from Matiala.

In the list of 11 candidates, there are six turncoats – three from BJP and the same number from Congress.

Both Mr Tanwar and Mr Jha are former BJP MLAs and joined AAP this year. Bibi Tyagi is also a former BJP leader and twice councilor of Delhi Municipal Corporation. Deepak Singhala is a senior party leader who lost to BJP’s Om Prakash Sharma from Vishwas Nagar last time. Sarita Singh is the head of AAP’s student wing, Chhatra Yuva Sangharsh Samiti and former MLA from Rohtas Nagar.

Ram Singh Netaji is a two-time MLA from Badarpur and Zubair Chaudhary is the son of five-time MLA from Seelampur and Congress leader Matin Ahmed. Veer Singh Dhingan, earlier in Congress, is a three-time MLA from Seemapuri. Gaurav Sharma is the national joint secretary of AAP’s organization building and Manoj Tyagi is a former councillor. Somesh Shaukeen is also a former Congress MLA, who joined AAP this year.

AAP has refused to let the three sitting MLAs pass the election and the subsequent lists will reveal whether they have been accommodated on other seats. These are Kirari MLA Rituraj Jha, Seelampur MLA Abdul Rehman and Matiala MLA Gulab Singh Yadav.
