Leaders of the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said that by fielding turncoats, the party has sent an indirect message to opposition leaders who may be feeling dissatisfied in their parties.

The ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday released its first list of 11 candidates for the assembly elections early next year, fielding turncoats from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress and dropping three MLAs. is removed. AAP is the first party to announce its candidates.

Anil Jha and Brahm Singh Tanwar, who left BJP and joined AAP, have been fielded from Kirari and Chhatarpur. Rituraj Jha is the MLA from Kirari. Former Congress leaders Zubair Chaudhary, Veer Singh Dhingan and Somesh Shaukeen have been given tickets from Seelampur, Seemapuri and Matiala.

AAP leaders said that by fielding turncoats, the party has sent an indirect message to opposition leaders who may be feeling dissatisfied in their parties. He said the party had released the first list months in advance as a strategy to give maximum possible time for preparations. “The party is already in an advanced stage of preparations with public outreach at multiple levels across the city,” the AAP leader said.

Aam Aadmi Party is hoping to return to power for the third consecutive time. It first came to power in 2013 when Arvind Kejriwal became chief minister with Congress support and resigned after 49 days. Aam Aadmi Party has been ruling Delhi with absolute majority since 2015.

AAP has 59 seats and BJP has seven seats in Delhi Assembly. In the 2020 assembly elections, AAP got 62 seats and BJP got eight seats. AAP MLA Kartar Singh Tanwar (Chhatarpur) was disqualified under anti-defection laws for joining BJP. Rajendra Pal Gautam resigned from the Assembly citing differences with the party.

Ram Singh Netaji has been fielded from Badarpur, Bibi Tyagi from Laxmi Nagar, Sarita Singh from Rohtas Nagar, Gaurav Sharma from Ghonda, Deepak Singhla from Vishwas Nagar and Manoj Tyagi from Karawal Nagar.

AAP has announced the names of candidates for seats like Karawal Nagar, Laxmi Nagar, Vishwas Nagar, Ghonda and Rohtas Nagar which are held by the BJP.
