New Delhi: Football legends Cristiano Ronaldo Has hinted at possible retirement plans, saying he may step away from football in “a year or two”, but is still undecided.
Speaking after Portugal’s emphatic 5-1 win over Poland uefa nations league On Friday, Ronaldo shared, “I just want to enjoy the game. My plan for retirement? If that happens, it will be in a year or two… but I don’t know. I’ll be turning 40 soon, and I want to enjoy this moment while I still feel motivated. As soon as the inspiration runs out, I will leave.”
The iconic forward, who will turn 40 in February next year, delivered a masterclass in Porto, scoring twice to seal a quarter-final place for Portugal.
Ronaldo once again shone at the national level, as he scored his 134th international goal with a penalty and followed it up with a spectacular overhead kick to take his goal tally to 135.
It took time for Portugal to break into Poland’s defence, but urgency in the second half sealed the victory.
Rafael Leao opened the scoring with a good header, followed by a well-taken penalty by Ronaldo.

Bruno Fernandes then struck from long range before Ronaldo set up Pedro Neto for the fourth goal.
Ronaldo’s acrobatic strike in the final minutes added an exclamation point to the night.
Although Poland’s Dominik Marczuk scored a consolation goal, the defeat ended Poland’s quarter-final hopes.
For Portugal, the result ensured not only a place in the last eight but also a place in Pot 1 2026 world cup qualifying Drag.
