Baldwin, the CEO of the US-based company, sparked online debate after a Reddit post that he fired 99 employees for failing to attend a mandatory meeting. According to a Reddit post shared by a fired intern, the CEO had scheduled a morning meeting, but when employees didn’t show up, he decided to take quick and serious action.
“For those of you who did not come to the meeting this morning, consider this your official notice: You are all fired. You failed to do what you agreed to, you failed to fulfill your part of the contract, and you failed to show up to meetings you were required to attend,” the CEO said in a message shared on Slack. There was more work to do. “Out of 110 people, only 11 were present this morning. Those 11 get to stay. The rest of you have been eliminated,” he said.

Here’s the full message shared by the CEO on Slack

Dear Team,
This is CEO Baldwin.
For those of you who missed the meeting this morning, consider this your official notice: You are all fired. You failed to do what you agreed to, you failed to fulfill your part of the contract, and you failed to show up to meetings you were supposed to attend and do the work.
I will cancel all agreements between us. Please back up everything you have, sign out of all accounts, and remove yourself from this Slack immediately.
I gave you the opportunity to improve your life, work hard and move forward. Still, you’ve shown me that you don’t take it seriously. This morning only 11 out of 110 people were present. Those 11 get to stay. The rest of you have been eliminated.
Finish my work now.

The incident has divided the internet

The incident has divided opinion on social media, with some questioning the CEO’s leadership style and others pointing to the importance of professional accountability. “I think the CEO failed to inform the team about that meeting. I can’t believe 99 people would miss a meeting if they found out,” one user replied. Another commented, “I guess these 99 people were actually working, who didn’t have time for some bullshit corporate-talk meeting with the CEO.”
“Dayam! Life will suck for the remaining 11 for a while until they find something else to sign up for,” said a third. “They have learned a lesson from it,” he said. ELONslash and burn! Productivity may increase!” said another.
